2026 to Be a Year of Commissioning Developmental Projects in Akontombra – DCE assure

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akontombra, Joseph Appiah, has announced that 2026 will be dedicated to the commissioning of several development projects across the district.

According to the DCE, many projects initiated through the District Assembly Common Fund are currently at various stages of completion and will be commissioned within the year.

He revealed that the Assembly has seven legacy projects yet to be completed. These include a three-unit classroom block at Cholechole and another three-unit classroom block at Ackaakrom, among others.
He further indicated that some ongoing projects will also be completed and commissioned this year. These include the Abronahia Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound and a nine-unit classroom block at Akontombra town, which is a storey building aimed at improving teaching and learning in the area.

The DCE noted that several other development projects across the district are progressing and are expected to be commissioned before the end of the year.

Speaking on water supply, he explained that following a directive from the President, the Assembly is required to construct 10 boreholes each year using the District Assembly Common Fund. He said six boreholes have already been completed, while the remaining four will be constructed soon.

He also disclosed that work on the Nzawura Health Centre will be completed this year to improve healthcare delivery for residents in the area.

The DCE assured that both the government and the District Assembly remain committed to accelerating development in the Akontombra District over the next four years.
