Former Attorney General Must Respect the Constitution and the Rule of Law

The former Attorney General Godfred Odame must uphold the dignity and impartiality expected of those who have held high office. His recent remarks implying that he alone determines who qualifies as “good men” are not only arrogant but deeply troubling in a democratic society.

This is the same individual who, not long ago, was accused of manipulating judicial processes, including the controversial case involving Hon. Ato Forson. Reports of attempts to influence witnesses and interfere with the judiciary are a stain on the rule of law and judicial independence.

Let it be clear: Power is not personal property—it is a public trust. No one, regardless of their former status, has the right to undermine democratic processes or intimidate political opponents. The former Attorney General lacks the moral authority to judge others or to speak on what is right or wrong.

Ghanaians are discerning. They see through these reckless outbursts and divisive rhetoric. We call on the former Attorney General to exercise restraint, respect the Constitution, and allow the law to function without interference.

The era of judicial manipulation and political strong-arming is over. The people of Ghana deserve better.
