Ahafo Kenyasi: 16 sex commercial sex workers, including 5 males, sign bond of good behaviour

The Asutifi District Police Commander, together with his crime officer and team, has arrested 16 commercial sex workers at Ahafo Kenyasi in the Ahafo region.

Among the 16 individuals were 11 women and 5 men, including 2 Nigerians. The arrest was made during a nighttime operation on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, based on intelligence from community informants.

Some of the sex workers were arrested at a drinking spot, while others were apprehended at a facility allegedly used for their activities.

According to reports, 8 of the suspects were caught in the act with clients and were subsequently stopped by the police and arrested.

The 16 individuals were remanded into police custody and were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.

In court yesterday, all the 16 suspects pleaded guilty. The judge, His Lordship Clement Kwasi Asomah, asked them to sign a bond of good behaviour and desist from such act.

Additionally, they were served with a 12-month ban from frequenting the area where they were arrested, with the warning that failure to comply would result in further arrest and prosecution.

The court warned the suspects that any future arrest for the same offense would result in an immediate judgment.

According to District Crime Officer, Paul Quashie, the operation was prompted by continuous complaints from the local chiefs and other stakeholders during DISEC meetings, citing the growing presence of commercial sex workers in the Kenyasi township, which they said posed a threat to the community’s future.
