Aowin Municipal Holds First Sanitation Day at Enchi

The Aowin Municipal Assembly has successfully organized its first-ever National Sanitation Day exercise in Enchi, the municipal capital, as part of the government’s initiative to promote cleanliness across the country.

The National Sanitation Day initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Local Government, directs all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to dedicate one day in the first week of every month for cleanup exercises.

The exercise at Enchi saw massive participation from traditional leaders (Nananom), assembly members, youth groups, and residents of the municipality.

Speaking to the media, Nana Emmanuel Bimpong, Youth Chief of the Aowin Traditional Council, and an Assemblywoman in the area, expressed excitement about the exercise. They commended the Assembly for the initiative and pledged their continuous support to sustain it every month.

Also joining the cleanup was Cape Coast Resort, a prospecting company operating in the area. The company’s administrator, Mr. Bismark Quayson, explained that beyond their core operations, they are committed to improving community health and safety. He noted that the company has been working with communities without toilet facilities to help provide them, ensuring residents live in a clean and healthy environment.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Aowin, Mr. Stephen Morch, expressed gratitude to the people for their active participation. He described the maiden cleanup as highly successful and promised to extend the exercise to other communities in the municipality in the coming months.

He emphasized that regular cleanup activities will not only beautify the municipality but also reduce the outbreak of diseases and improve productivity among residents.
