Aowin NDC Disassociates Itself from Comments Against Paramount Chief, Suspends Branch Executive

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Aowin Constituency has distanced itself from comments made by one of its branch executives against the Overlord of the Aowin Traditional Area, Nana Beyeeman Tano Kwawu Benbuin III, Paramount Chief of the Aowin Traditional Council.

In a press conference held today, 11th December 2025, at the party’s office in Enchi, the NDC Constituency Communication Officer, Prince Effue, stated that the party completely disassociates itself from the remarks made by Mr. Karim Shaibu, describing them as inappropriate and unrepresentative of the party’s values and principles.

He stressed that the conduct of Mr. Shaibu does not reflect the discipline, respect, and decorum expected of NDC members. According to him, the NDC holds traditional authorities in the highest regard and maintains a strong relationship with the chieftaincy institution, which plays a vital role in promoting peace and development.

Following a thorough internal review of the matter, the Aowin Constituency Executive Committee has taken decisive action against Mr. Shaibu. He has been suspended from all NDC activities, removed from his position as branch organizer at the Methodist Church branch, and taken off all party communication platforms. The matter has also been referred to the Constituency Disciplinary Committee for further action.

The party explained that these actions were taken in accordance with Article 40, Clauses 2 and 8 (a, b, c, and e) of the NDC Constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures against misconduct.

Mr. Effue further indicated that the party will, as a matter of urgency, take steps to render an unqualified apology to Nana Beyeeman Tano Kwawu Benbuin III. He emphasized that while Mr. Shaibu’s association with the NDC is acknowledged, his actions are personal and not representative of the party’s stance.
He also appealed to the youth of Aowin and the general public to exercise calm and restraint in their discussions of the issue, urging them to respect the dignity of traditional leaders.

The NDC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, peace, and development within the constituency and pledged continued collaboration with all stakeholders, including traditional authorities, to ensure progress and harmony in the Aowin constituency.
