Ayinabrim Assembly Member Donates Mathematical Sets to BECE Candidates

By Richard Adjei Kronteng

The Assembly Member for Ayinabrim Electoral Area, Mr. Haruna Awelinga, popularly known as Figo, has donated mathematical sets and pens to Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in his electoral area to encourage and support them ahead of the exams.

Mr. Awelinga presented 100 mathematical sets and 100 pens to 100 students who are scheduled to write the BECE on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

According to him, the donation is aimed at motivating the students and ensuring that they are adequately prepared for the exams. He noted that many of the candidates come from low-income families who may struggle to afford basic examination materials, which can negatively impact student performance.

“Some of the students come from families who cannot afford a mathematical set, and during exams, you see some begging their colleagues for tools. That is not a good practice during examinations,” Mr. Awelinga explained. “I have been a witness to such situations before, so I decided to use the little I have to support them.”

He took the opportunity to advise the candidates to stay away from examination malpractices such as the use of “apor” (leaked exam questions). He encouraged them to remain confident, avoid panic, and focus on understanding and answering the questions to the best of their knowledge.

“Be disciplined, obey the rules in the examination hall, and take the exams as seriously as your terminal exams. With focus and hard work, you can come out with flying colors,” he told the students.

Mr. Awelinga also advised parents, teachers, and friends to avoid interfering in the examination process by attempting to provide foreign materials or influencing the candidates, which could lead to confusion.

He urged parents to support their children emotionally and materially as they prepare for the exams.

He concluded by wishing all BECE candidates success in their exams and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
