Big Aidoo Expresses Disappointment in Aowin Traditional Council

The Western North Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Member of the Council of State, H.E. Michael Aidoo, popularly known as Big Aidoo, has expressed his disappointment in the Aowin Traditional Council for refusing to attend a meeting with the party’s national leadership.

Big Aidoo made the remarks when the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, visited the Western North Region on January 20, 2026, as part of his regional tour, which included a stop in the Aowin Constituency.

According to him, the traditional council was officially invited to the event but failed to show up due to a misunderstanding between the council and the Member of Parliament for Aowin.

“Even if you have a problem with the MP, it doesn’t mean you have a problem with the party,” Big Aidoo said. “The NDC has supported Aowin in many ways, and it would have been right for the traditional council to attend and show appreciation.”

He described the council’s action as ungrateful, emphasizing that the Aowin Constituency has benefited significantly from the NDC’s leadership in the region.
Big Aidoo pointed out that the party had appointed a native of Aowin as Regional Minister and another as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, positions that some other constituencies in the region have not yet received.

“I don’t understand why they failed to attend despite all the support the NDC has given to Aowin,” he added.

He also used the occasion to caution party members, especially the youth, against insulting traditional leaders. Big Aidoo stressed that chiefs are key stakeholders in development and the promotion of peace and democracy, and therefore deserve to be treated with respect.

“Any youth who insults traditional authorities will face the consequences,” he warned.

Big Aidoo reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to maintaining a respectful and cooperative relationship with all traditional leaders in the Western North Region.
