The Traditional Authorities (Nananom) of Sefwi Bodi in the Western North have called on the government to complete abandoned projects in their area. Nana Yaw Amoah, who spoke on behalf of the Chief of Bodi, expressed concern over several unfinished projects initiated by the previous government. He urged the current administration to prioritize completing these projects for the community.
Nana Amoah highlighted the issue of road construction, specifically the Bodi to Ahibenso road, which began under the NPP administration but remains incomplete. He pointed out the challenges faced, particularly during the rainy season, as access to the road becomes difficult. He appealed to the government, led by H.E. John Mahama, to finish the road construction.
Another project discussed was the Agenda 111 hospital, which was also started by the NPP government but has yet to be completed. Nana Amoah expressed the urgent need for healthcare facilities in the area, as Bodi lacks access to quality healthcare. Residents are forced to travel to Juaboso or even as far as Komfo Anokye for medical treatment, which is not ideal. He called on the Minister of Health to inform the President and complete the hospital project.
Additionally, Nana Amoah mentioned Bodi Senior High School, which was established in 2012 as a day school. He requested that the school be upgraded to a boarding status to better serve the students. He also appealed to the government to provide the school with a bus to ease transportation challenges for students.
Another pressing issue raised was the lack of a fire station in the district. Nana Amoah emphasized the danger posed by the absence of a fire station and called on the government to construct one to prevent fire outbreaks and handle emergencies.
Furthermore, Nana Amoah requested the completion of the market project that was started by the NPP government but remains unfinished. He urged the government to help complete the market to boost the local economy.
Nana Amoah concluded by expressing the community’s gratitude to the government if these requests were addressed.
Response from the Minister

In response to the chiefs’ concerns, the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, expressed his commitment to serving the people of the region with humility and dedication. Hon. Brentum acknowledged the importance of a fire station and promised to engage with the fire commander to explore ways to establish one in Bodi. He also assured the chiefs that he would work with the Minister of Education to ensure that Bodi Senior High School is upgraded to a boarding school.
