The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bodi, Stephen Baidoo, has disclosed that the ongoing gari processing factory project in the district will employ about 50 direct workers upon completion.
The project, being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Bodi and Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry through the Ministry, is aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for cassava farmers in the area.
The factory, located at Sefwi Bodi, is currently about 60 percent complete.
Speaking with onua news, Mr. Baidoo noted that aside from the direct workforce, the factory will also generate significant indirect employment. He explained that more than 200 farmers will be engaged in supplying cassava to feed the factory when it becomes operational.

He further revealed that, as part of preparations for the project, the government has already supported about 90 farmers financially to cultivate cassava, with their produce now ready for harvest. According to him, plans are underway to sponsor an additional batch of farmers to expand cassava production in the district.
Mr. Baidoo added that individuals with cassava farms will also have the opportunity to supply their produce to the factory, creating a ready market for local farmers.

He explained that the initiative is particularly important for communities in the district where cassava farming is the primary economic activity. He emphasized that the factory will help boost incomes and improve livelihoods, especially at a time when cocoa production the traditional source of income for many farmers is declining.

The DCE further stated that the factory will produce large quantities of gari to supply Senior High Schools within the region, reducing the need to import gari from other areas.
He expressed optimism that the project will not only strengthen the local economy but also provide jobs for the youth in the district.
Mr. Baidoo indicated that the factory is expected to be completed and ready for production in about a month.
