Bright Ankrah Appointed as New Juaboso District Health Insurance Manager

By Emmanuel Sowah

Juaboso, Ghana — Mr. Bright Ankrah, Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Juaboso Constituency, has officially assumed office as the new District Health Insurance Manager for Juaboso under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The official handover ceremony was held earlier this week, the regional manager present to facilitate the transition. Also in attendance were the District Chief Executive (DCE), NHIA regional officials, family members, and party supporters.

In his maiden address, Mr. Ankrah expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to uphold the principles and guidelines governing the NHIA. He emphasized his commitment to working closely with his staff to improve service delivery and to make the scheme more appealing and accessible to the people of Juaboso.

“I have accepted this responsibility with faith and a strong sense of duty,” he said. “I will work within the frameworks of the NHIA and collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that Juaboso benefits fully from the health insurance scheme.”

Mr. Ankrah used the opportunity to urge all residents whose health insurance cards have expired to renew them promptly. He also called on individuals who have never registered to do so, highlighting the importance of preparedness even in good health.

“Some people think they don’t need health insurance because they rarely fall sick,” he said. “But emergencies can happen at any time. When that moment comes, it might be too late to register. It is better to be safe and covered.”

As part of his early plans, the new manager announced an upcoming staff meeting to develop a strategic roadmap for expanding NHIS membership across the district. He also pledged to address the growing concern among cardholders who report being charged for services that should be covered under the scheme.

“Clients have expressed frustrations about some health facilities demanding payments for services that are covered by the insurance. As the new manager, I will engage these facilities to ensure that such practices are curbed,” he stated.

Mr. Ankrah acknowledged the efforts of his predecessor and the district NHIA staff, commending them for their dedication and contributions. He vowed to build on their successes and drive further improvements.

In his closing remarks, he extended his appreciation to the Minister of Health, the Chief Executive Officer of the NHIA, and the Juaboso DCE for their support and guidance.
