Coalition of Concerned Farmers of Western North Demands Apology and Retraction From Dr. David Tenkorang Over Needless Insults Hurled at Hon. Akandoh – The Health Minister

press statement for immediate release

We have noted with outrage the disgraceful insults hurled at the Honourable Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, by Dr. David Tenkorang, the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA). His reckless and disrespectful comments are not only unbecoming of someone who occupies a leadership role in a professional body, but also expose him as nothing more than a political mouthpiece doing the dirty work of the opposition.

It is now clear that Dr. Tenkorang has abandoned his responsibility to defend the welfare of nurses and midwives and has instead reduced himself to a partisan attack dog, shamelessly echoing the propaganda of his political paymasters. His comments have nothing to do with improving healthcare in Ghana, but everything to do with undermining the credibility of a hardworking Minister who is determined to fix the rot left behind by the very people he now appears to be serving.

At a time when Ghanaians expect honesty, collaboration, and solutions to the challenges in our health sector, Dr. Tenkorang has chosen cheap insults and political gimmickry. This only confirms what many have long suspected – that his interest is not in advancing the cause of nurses and midwives, but in promoting the narrow agenda of the opposition.

We therefore:

  1. Condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the partisan and insulting remarks of Dr. David Tenkorang.
  2. Demand that he apologises not only to the Honourable Minister but also to the thousands of farmers, nurses, and midwives whose integrity he has dragged into partisan politics.
  3. Challenge the leadership of GRNMA to come clean on whether it endorses Dr. Tenkorang’s shameful conduct or will distance itself from his political posturing.
  4. Call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to reject these desperate attempts by opposition-aligned actors to distract the Honourable Minister from resetting Ghana’s healthcare system.

We wish to assure the people of Ghana that the Honourable Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, remains focused, undistracted, and committed to restoring dignity, accountability, and progress in our health sector. No amount of insults or propaganda from political hirelings like Dr. Tenkorang will derail this mission.

The health of our people is too important to be toyed with by partisan opportunists. We, the people of Western North, stand firmly with the Honourable Minister and against those who put politics above patients.

……Signed….
(Isaiah Kwarteng, Convenor)
