The Concerned NDC Youth of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency have voiced their frustration over what they describe as President John Dramani Mahama’s continued neglect in appointing any party members from their constituency to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or board member positions.
According to the group, several hardworking and loyal party members in the constituency played a vital role in the NDC’s victory during the 2024 general elections. Despite these contributions, the group says none have been recognized with appointments — a situation they describe as deeply disappointing.
In an interview with the group’s convenor, Mr. Emmanuel Kyei Mensah, also known as Kyei the Speaker, expressed the growing concerns of grassroots members in the area.
“His Excellency the President has made several appointments, but not a single one has gone to anyone from our constituency. This is worrying. We are therefore appealing to him to consider our plea and include deserving members of Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai in CEO and board appointments.”
Mr. Kyei also highlighted the pivotal role played by the constituency chairman, Mr. Yaw Berima, and other executives, who helped secure a historic victory for the NDC in Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai — the first time in 20 years that the party has won the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“Chairman Yaw Berima and his team worked extremely hard to win this seat, which had been under NPP control for two decades. We believe he deserves to be appointed as a board member of Gold-bod in recognition of his efforts.”
Other concerned youth in the constituency echoed the call, saying the lack of appointments has created discontent and could demoralize the grassroots base if not addressed promptly.
“To calm tensions and reaffirm the party’s commitment to loyal members, we urge President Mahama to appoint Yaw Berima to serve on the Gold-bod board.”
