Sefwi Wiawso, Western North Region — The 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Sefwi Wiawso Constituency, Festus Bumakama Agyapong, has made a passionate call for unity within the party as the nation heads toward the upcoming general elections.
Speaking on Faith FM’s Yiedie program hosted by Nana Yaw Adinkra, Bumakama emphasized that the NPP’s success in the 2028 elections heavily depends on unity among its members. He expressed concern over the growing trend of internal conflicts, including backbiting, insults, and personal attacks, which he said threaten the party’s chances of reclaiming power.
He urged members of the NPP to set aside personal differences and focus on the collective goal of victory, cautioning that the party cannot expect to win if internal divisions continue to dominate the political landscape.
In a firm stance on internal politics, Bumakama announced that he will not endorse any candidate vying for internal party positions, stressing that his political focus is on unifying the party rather than influencing internal contests.
Meanwhile, the constituency chairman of the party, Mr. Addae Bediako, also known as Boafo He Nyame, echoed the call for discipline and unity. He advised party supporters to refrain from using social media to insult or attack fellow members, encouraging them to channel their energies toward promoting the party’s agenda.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of harmony within the party structure, urging all supporters and executives to work together in a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect as the NPP positions itself for electoral victory.
