Bernard Gyebi Blay, former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bia West, has officially declared his full support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as flagbearer ahead of the next general elections.
Mr. Blay, who served two times as DCE for Bia West and was also a two-time parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the constituency, made his declaration through a statement on his official Facebook page.
In the statement, he expressed admiration for Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, vision, and personal character. According to him, Dr. Bawumia played a significant role in supporting his parliamentary campaigns in both 2020 and 2024, providing essential logistics and guidance throughout the process.
What stood out most for the former DCE was a personal phone call he received from Dr. Bawumia after the 2024 elections, in which the Vice President offered words of encouragement despite his own electoral loss. Mr. Blay believes that this act of selflessness and humility speaks volumes about Dr. Bawumia’s integrity and commitment to the party.
He concluded that Dr. Bawumia’s competence, values, and dedication make him the right person to lead the NPP into the next elections, and he pledged his full endorsement to support the Vice President’s presidential ambition.
