Former Juaboso DCE Accuses NDC Constituency Chairmen of Involvement in Galamsey

Former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Juaboso, Mr. Godfred Kwabena Adjei Asante, has made a bold allegation against the National Democratic Congress (NDC), claiming that every constituency chairman of the party is involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

In an interview with 1957 News, Mr. Asante stated that the illegal activity is widespread across all constituencies, and he could even name several individuals involved. He added that he would reveal those names at the appropriate time.

Mr. Asante made this statement during a gathering of former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) who had convened to declare their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) aspiring flagbearer for the upcoming primaries.

Following the press conference, Mr. Asante reiterated his support for Dr. Bawumia and expressed confidence that President John Mahama would hand over power to the current Dr Bawumia. He emphasized a historical pattern where, since 1992, every sitting president has handed over to his political rival, suggesting that this trend would continue in 2028.

Mr. Asante also pointed to the growing hardship in the country as a key factor that would influence voter behavior in the next election. According to him, many grassroots supporters who abstained from voting previously will turn out this time due to the deteriorating economic conditions.

He criticized President Mahama for doing little to address the suffering of Ghanaians and tied this inaction to ongoing illegal mining activities, which he believes are being facilitated by party chairmen at the constituency level.
