Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa Attends G20 Summit in Johannesburg

The Ghana High Commissioner to South Africa, Benjamin Anani Quashie, participated in the G20 Summit held last week in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The summit brought together leaders and representatives from the world’s most powerful economies, including India, the United Kingdom, China, and other major nations. South Africa, being the only African country that is part of the G20, hosted the event, which focused on strengthening global partnerships and addressing key economic challenges.

Although Ghana is not yet a member of the G20, the presence of High Commissioner Benjamin Anani Quashie at the summit was seen as an important diplomatic move, symbolizing Ghana’s growing interest and readiness to engage more closely with leading global economies. His participation also reflects Ghana’s ambition to one day join the ranks of the world’s top economic nations.

The Johannesburg summit was widely regarded as a success, with several heads of state and prime ministers in attendance. The United States has been selected to host the next G20 Summit in 2026. However, former U.S. President Donald Trump was notably absent from this year’s gathering.
