Earlier today, I had the honour of joining the Narcotics Control Commission to witness a significant milestone in our nation’s anti-drug efforts—the graduation of the Commission’s first batch of recruits from the Naval Recruit Training School at Nutekpor in the Volta Region.I charged the graduating recruits to remain steadfast in their mission to protect Ghana from the scourge of illicit drugs.
I reminded them that the badge they wear is not a symbol of privilege, but a stewardship of hope—one that must never be used as a license for impunity. On behalf of the Ministry, I assured the recruits of our unwavering commitment to supporting the Commission in achieving its objectives. We will continue to provide the necessary logistics, resources and policy direction to ensure their success.

I also commended the staff and instructors for their exceptional discipline, professionalism, and sacrifice in shaping these recruits into capable officers prepared to serve our nation with honour.Over the past six months, the recruits have undergone rigorous and specialized training in intelligence gathering, drug pharmacology, profiling techniques, document fraud detection and tactical security operations.
They are now fully equipped to confront the complex and evolving challenges of drug trafficking and abuse in Ghana. As they step into their new roles, I urged them to rise to the occasion and let their conduct reflect the strength and core values of their training. I urged them to let every citizen feel their presence, their protection and their resolve to make Ghana great; I emphasized.
On behalf of the President of the Republic, I congratulated the graduating recruits and wished them all the best in their new roles. I admonished them to go forth with purpose, serve with honour and never forget that when they protect our motherland from drugs, they protect her future also.
This graduation ceremony marks a bold step forward in Ghana’s fight against illicit drugs. With their training and dedication, these recruits are expected to play a key role in advancing our national strategy to combat the drug menace and safeguard the future of our nation.
