Juaboso, Western North Region – The Girls Club Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has successfully registered and renewed National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) memberships for 645 adolescent girls across the Juaboso District.
The initiative, which began 18th of June2025, is aimed at improving access to quality healthcare for adolescent girls between the ages of 0 and 17. According to the Foundation, many girls in the district are unable to access hospital care due to financial constraints within their families.
Speaking to the media, Madam Cecilia Dogbavia, Western North Regional Coordinator of the Foundation and a nursing officer at Juaboso, emphasized the importance of empowering adolescent girls through health and education.

“Our mission is to ensure that girls are not denied healthcare due to poverty. We are also educating them on menstrual hygiene and how to improve their lives as young women,” she stated.
The registration exercise began in the Antobia Electoral Area, continued in the Juaboso Electoral Area, and is currently ongoing in the Boinzan Electoral Area. The project is expected to end on 10th July 2025.
Madam Dogbavia encouraged parents and guardians to take advantage of the opportunity to register or renew NHIS for their daughters below 18 years free of charge.

Mr. Bright Ankrah, NHIS Manager for Juaboso District, expressed gratitude to the Girls Club Foundation for their support. He noted that many families in the area struggle to afford NHIS registration for their children, making the Foundation’s intervention timely and impactful.
“This initiative is a step in the right direction. Health insurance plays a critical role during emergencies, and I encourage everyone to enroll,” Mr. Ankrah added.

The Girls Club Foundation reiterated its commitment to continuing similar outreach efforts in schools and communities across the region, with the hope of reaching as many adolescent girls as possible.
