NDC PROFESSIONAL FORUM Youth RESPONDS TO RECKLESS COMMENTS BY REV. NTIM FORDJOUR
It has come to my attention that Rev. Ntim Fordjour has made reckless and provocative comments in relation to the upcoming Akwatia by-election. Let me state emphatically that such conduct is beneath the dignity of someone who calls himself a Reverend and a public servant.
We, in the National Democratic Congress (NDC-Professional Forum Youth), are committed to a peaceful and democratic electoral process. However, we will not sit idle while individuals like Ntim Fordjour beat war drums and incite NPP supporters to attack NDC members in the event of political disagreements.
This is not the first time such dangerous rhetoric has come from the NPP. Let it be known that the people of Akwatia want peace—not bloodshed. If there is any threat to that peace, the responsibility will lie squarely at the feet of those like Rev. Fordjour who fan the flames of division.
I am sending a clear and direct warning to Rev. Ntim Fordjour: tread cautiously. If your intent is to destabilize the Akwatia by-election with threats or incitement, know that the youth of this country—especially within the NDC—are ever ready to defend our rights and our people within the bounds of the law.
We will not be provoked. We will not be intimidated. And we will not allow anyone, regardless of their status, to plunge this election into chaos.
Consider this your final warning: respect the peace, respect the people, and respect the democratic process.
Signed,
Benjamin Afram Kwabena
Deputy National Youth Commissioner
