The Juaboso District Assembly, under the leadership of District Chief Executive Mr. Alexander Adu Quist, has held a town hall meeting to present its first quarter performance and budget utilization for 2025. For the year, the Assembly has been allocated 180 billion old Ghana cedis from the Common Fund. The resources have been earmarked for projects aimed at improving infrastructure, health, education, sanitation, and economic activities across the district.

A significant share, representing 25 percent of the allocation, will go towards the construction of a modern 24-hour economy market. The facility will feature a police post, bank, pharmacy, kindergarten block, 24 toilets and bathrooms, 100 lockable stores, a bus terminal, offices, and a social center, creating a hub for trade and essential services.

The health sector has been allocated 10 percent of the funds for the construction of three new CHPS compounds in separate communities. Education will receive a similar 10 percent allocation to build four new schools in Proso Kofi Krom, Asempanaye, Breman, and Sayerano, each equipped with a kindergarten block and washroom facilities.

To improve water supply, 10 percent of the fund will be invested in drilling mechanized boreholes and installing hand pumps in 19 communities, ensuring greater access to safe and clean drinking water.

Sanitation has also been prioritized, with 10 percent of the allocation dedicated to purchasing 113 waste bins, recruiting women for cleaning towns and markets, supplying them with working packages, and providing a motorcycle for the Environmental Health Officer to support monitoring and public education. Additional works will include desilting gutters to improve drainage.

A further 20 percent of the funds has been set aside to complete ongoing legacy projects, ensuring that developments started in previous years are brought to completion without being abandoned.

The Assembly’s revenue mobilization efforts have recorded remarkable progress. So far, GH¢846,200 has been collected towards the target, while total internally generated funds have reached GH¢6,781,047—exceeding the year’s goal. This success is credited to innovative strategies, including commission-based collectors who retain 30 percent of the revenue they mobilize.

Mr. Adu Quist reaffirmed that the Common Fund is strictly for development purposes and not for recurrent expenditure. He assured residents that every funded project will be completed and urged assembly members to intensify IGF collection in their electoral areas. He also called on traditional leaders and stakeholders to continue offering guidance, prayers, and support for the district’s progress.
