JUABOSO LAUNCHES OPERATION CLEAN YOUR FRONTAGE

Operation Clean Your Frontage is an initiative by the Ministry of Sanitation aimed at helping to clean towns and cities across the country. The Ministry of Sanitation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, has tasked all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies to implement this program in their communities to promote cleaner environments.

In the Juaboso District, the initiative was officially launched to clean the Juaboso townships. Many people came out in large numbers to support the initiative and participate in the cleanup exercise. Prominent figures, including the police commander and his team, the fire service commander and his team, immigration officers, NADMO officials, the Chief of Juaboso and his Elders, the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, and even the DCE nominee, were all present to lend their support to the initiative.

In an interview with the Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ohene Asa Otoo, he described the initiative as a fantastic way to clear the environment and prevent disease outbreaks. He mentioned that the Church of Pentecost had started conducting monthly clean-up exercises in Juaboso but struggled due to a lack of support from authorities and community members. He commended the government’s efforts in launching this initiative and called for the assembly to implement stronger bylaws. Apostle Otoo emphasized that without proper laws, citizens might not take the initiative seriously. He urged the assembly to provide more waste bins and enforce penalties for improper waste disposal, including arrests and fines, as this would encourage people to keep their surroundings clean.

The NADMO office in Juaboso also highlighted the importance of addressing flooding in the area. Madam Eva Duah, representing NADMO, explained that with the help of the DCE nominee and the assembly, they had surveyed the town to identify the causes of flooding. She noted that many people had built houses in lowland areas, and some had blocked water channels with waste and plastic, contributing to the flooding problem. Madam Duah advised the public not to buy land in waterlogged or lowland areas, as these regions are prone to flooding, especially during the rainy season.

She also sympathized with the residents of Sefwi Abrokofe, who were affected by a recent rainstorm. Madam Duah assured the community that her office was putting measures in place to support those affected.

The DCE nominee, Mr. Alexander Adu Quist, emphasized the importance of living in a clean environment, stating that God does not listen to the prayers of people living in unclean surroundings. He called on the community to support the government’s efforts to keep the town clean. Mr. Adu Quist assured the community that this clean-up initiative would not be a one-time event, but a continuous effort. He pledged to work with stakeholders in the district, and if confirmed as DCE, he would ensure that Juaboso, along with other major towns in the district, remains clean and sanitized.
