A devastating fire outbreak that razed parts of the Juaboso market on Tueday, January 6, 2026, has left traders counting their losses. The inferno destroyed five stores, reducing them to ashes and destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

When legendreport revisited the scene, several victims were still in shock as they assessed the damage. Among them was Madam Ajara Alhassan, a second-hand clothing seller, who lost her entire investment. She explained that she was at home when she received a distress call about the incident.
Upon rushing to the market, she discovered that her store and all its contents had been completely burnt.

According to her, she lost an estimated GH₵50,000 worth of goods and described the tragedy as a major setback.
She expressed fears that it would be difficult to raise new capital to restart her business and appealed to authorities and well-meaning individuals for assistance.
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Juaboso visited the scene to assess the extent of the damage.

The district NADMO officer, Desmond Owusu Ansah, confirmed that a report was being prepared for submission to the head office for possible support.
He indicated that the local NADMO office currently lacks resources to provide immediate relief to the affected traders.
The fire has left a significant impact on the Juaboso market, with affected traders hoping for swift intervention to help them rebuild their livelihoods.
