A warehouse in the Juaboso District, originally constructed to store farm produce, is set to be repurposed into a central medical store for the Western North Region.
The facility, which was built by the government to support agricultural storage, remained unused after its completion and became a white elephant. Over time, the structure deteriorated, with reports of theft involving solar batteries and other essential components, rendering it non-functional.

The Western North Regional Health Directorate has long faced challenges due to the absence of a dedicated medical storage facility. This has forced health officials to travel to the Western Region to access and store vaccines, creating logistical difficulties in healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual Performance Review held at Sefwi Bodi on March 26, the Regional Health Director, Dr. Paulina Clara Appiah, highlighted the urgent need for a central medical store within the region. She disclosed that a formal request had been submitted to the Ministry of Health to rehabilitate the Juaboso warehouse for this purpose.
According to her, the proposal has been approved, paving the way for the rehabilitation of the facility to serve the health directorate and improve healthcare logistics across the region.

The District Chief Executive for Juaboso, Alexander Adu Quist, also confirmed the development, stating that the warehouse has officially been handed over to the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service. He added that technical experts from the Ministry have already inspected the site and identified areas requiring renovation to make it suitable for use as a medical storage facility.

Once completed, the project is expected to significantly enhance the storage and distribution of vaccines and other medical supplies, ultimately improving healthcare delivery in the Western North Region.
