The Member of Parliament for Sefwi Wiawso, Kofi Benteh Afful, has visited the ongoing oil palm seedling project sites at Kesekrom, Boako, and Ahokwaa to assess progress made so far.
The project, which currently hosts over 5,000 oil palm seedlings, is being prepared for planting on more than 4,000 acres of land at Kwamebour. It is expected to generate over 2,000 jobs for the youth of Sefwi Wiawso, promoting employment creation and sustainable agricultural development within the municipality.
Afful’s visit reaffirms his strong commitment to youth empowerment and local economic growth through agriculture.
In November last year, Hon. Afful invited officials from CSIR Ghana and SUMATRA to Kwamebour to conduct soil testing and other feasibility studies for the establishment of the large-scale oil palm plantation.
So far, over 200 young people across the constituency have undergone training in oil palm cultivation and value addition. Land preparation activities have already begun, following Afful’s inspection of the project site during the Christmas period.

The initiative forms part of the MP’s broader vision to boost agricultural productivity, create sustainable livelihoods, and transform Sefwi Wiawso into a key hub for oil palm production in the Western North Region.
