The Deputy Coordinator for Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development, Mr. George Dadze, has revealed that the President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, is not against mining. According to him, the President encourages citizens to engage in mining, provided it is done responsibly and in ways that protect the environment and the country’s water bodies from pollution.
Mr. Dadze explained that President Mahama supports the mining sector because it plays a vital role in Ghana’s economic growth and job creation. However, he said the President’s major concern is the need to ensure that mining activities do not destroy the environment or endanger the livelihoods of communities that depend on natural resources.

He emphasized that the government is determined to promote proper and regulated mining across the country. According to him, through initiatives like the C Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme, miners are being trained and supported to adopt environmentally friendly practices that will sustain the sector for the long term.
Mr. Dadze made these remarks at Sefwi Boinzan when he met with Nananom, miners, and stakeholders in the Juaboso District to educate them on responsible cooperative mining and skills development. The meeting, he said, was part of ongoing efforts to sensitize local miners about the importance of operating within legal frameworks and protecting natural resources.

He concluded by calling on all miners and stakeholders to support President Mahama’s vision of responsible mining. According to him, when mining is done properly, it benefits everyone — creating jobs, boosting local economies, and preserving Ghana’s environment for future generations.
