About a month ago, Legend Report broke the news that Mrs. Martha Kwayie Manu, the former Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, had announced her decision not to contest the Juaboso parliamentary seat again. At the time, she hinted at her intention to seek a regional position within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North Region.
Today, Martha Kwayie has officially declared her intention to contest for the position of Regional Chairperson of the NPP in the Western North Region.
Speaking on phone interview with Emmanuel Sowah,Martha Kwayie confirmed the rumors surrounding her ambition. She stated that she has made up her mind to join the upcoming regional chairmanship race, describing herself as a dedicated and loyal member of the party who has every right to contest.

“I am ready and fully prepared to serve the party in a new capacity. I have been an active and committed member of the NPP for years, and I believe my experience positions me well to lead the regional executive team,” she said.

Martha Kwayie Manu has been a key figure in the politics of the Western North Region. She served as the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Juaboso Constituency in 2012, 2016, and 2020. From 2017 to 2021, she was the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Juaboso, after which she was appointed Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, a position she held from 2021 until January 2025.
She remains the only female politician from the Western North Region to have risen to such a high rank in national politics. Her leadership and resilience continue to inspire many women in the region to take active roles in governance and public service.
Martha Kwayie has played significant roles in strengthening the NPP’s presence and visibility in the Western North Region. Her declaration to contest the regional chairmanship is already generating excitement and discussion among party members and political observers.
