Minerals Commission appoints Frank Asare as director of mineral titles department

The Minerals Commission has appointed Ing. Frank Asare, Esq. as Director of the Mineral Titles Department, a key directorate responsible for the administration and management of mineral rights in Ghana.

Ing. Asare is a professional engineer and a lawyer, bringing a rare combination of technical and legal expertise to the role at a time of ongoing reforms in Ghana’s mining sector.

He previously worked with Chirano Gold Mines Limited, then a subsidiary of Kinross Gold Corporation, from 2011 to 2020, where he served as a junior metallurgist and gained extensive operational experience in large-scale gold mining.

In 2022, he established PEDMAX Company Limited, where he served as Chief Executive Officer until 2025. He has also held leadership roles within government programmes, including serving as Program Coordinator for the National Alternative Employment and Livelihood Programme.
Ing. Asare is currently the National Coordinator of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), a government flagship initiative aimed at curbing illegal mining, promoting formalisation, creating jobs, and supporting sustainable development in mining communities.

In addition to his public sector responsibilities, he works as a lawyer with Excel Legal Consultancy on a part-time basis.

His professional skills span engineering, metallurgy, mineral processing, corporate law, and mining governance, positioning him to oversee mineral title administration, licensing processes, and compliance within Ghana’s extractive sector.
