Minister Encourages BECE Candidates During Visit to Juaboso Centre

The Western North Regional Minister, Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, has paid a visit to a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) center in the Juaboso District to motivate and encourage candidates currently writing their exams.During his visit, Mr. Brentum commended the candidates for their discipline and good conduct since the start of the exams.

He noted that reports reaching him indicate the students have comported themselves well throughout the examination period.He cautioned the candidates against engaging in any form of examination malpractice, warning that such actions could lead to the cancellation of their results.

Mr. Brentum also advised invigilators and supervisors to create a conducive environment for the candidates in the examination halls. He urged them to resist any attempts to assist students through unfair means, such as providing them with leaked materials (commonly referred to as apor), and instead encourage students to do their best.

Addressing the female candidates, the Minister advised them to take good care of themselves after the exams and avoid situations that could lead to teenage pregnancy, which he said could jeopardize their future careers.

He congratulated all the candidates and wished them success in their exams.

The Regional Director of Education, Mr. Seth Boateng, also briefed the Minister on the number of candidates taking part in the BECE across the region. He revealed that there are a total of 667 schools participating—505 public schools and 162 private schools.

He further stated that the total number of candidates writing the exams is 17,180, comprising to last years.
