The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has taken proactive steps to mitigate the effects of potential disasters caused by the rainy season.
According to Miss Esther Oppong, the NADMO Director for the Western North Region, letters have been sent to key agencies requesting support to address challenges likely to arise from heavy rains.
Miss Oppong also stated that she engaged the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the region, Mr. Dominic Gyasi, and deployed NADMO personnel to various communities.
These officers are tasked with educating residents and assisting in efforts to prevent rain-related disasters.Despite being new in office, Miss Oppong organised a rapid assessment exercise, which has provided her with a clear understanding of flood-prone areas in the region.
She further mentioned that NADMO has secured some equipment and machines to help manage and respond to emergencies effectively. She emphasized that these measures are part of NADMO’s ongoing efforts to reduce the impact of floods and other rain-induced disasters in the Western North Region.
Miss Oppong called on all residents to cooperate with NADMO and support their activities in building a safer region for all.
