The Government of Ghana has appointed Nana Ofori Ahenkan II, Chief of Sefwi Boinzain and Krontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area, as the new Chairman of the Governing Board of the Ghana National Ambulance Service.
The appointment, endorsed by president of Ghana and ministryof health, is widely regarded as a well-deserved recognition of Nana Ofori Ahenkan II’s enduring commitment to public service, health advocacy, and grassroots development.
In his new role, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II is expected to provide strategic oversight and policy direction to the National Ambulance Service. His core focus will include:
Improving emergency medical response systems
Expanding access to pre-hospital care, especially in rural and underserved communities
Stakeholders across the health sector believe his unique blend of traditional leadership experience and understanding of local challenges will bring renewed energy and vision to the board.
“We believe his wisdom, humility, and foresight will help bridge the gap between rural communities and national health systems,” a representative of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council remarked. “This is a proud and historic moment not only for the Sefwi people but for the entire nation.”
