NDC Threatens Legal Action Against NPP Over Alleged Falsehoods and Personal Attacks

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western North Region has issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), threatening legal action if the party continues to engage in what the NDC describes as a campaign of misinformation and personal attacks.

According to the NDC, the NPP in the region has allegedly embarked on a deliberate effort to discredit the opposition party through the spread of false information and targeted character attacks. The NDC views these actions as attempts to erode the party’s credibility and hinder its development agenda in the Western North Region.

At a press conference held in Sefwi Wiawso, the NDC Regional Chairman, Michael Aidoo, expressed strong disapproval of what he termed as anti-development and anti-truth propaganda being perpetuated by elements within the NPP. The party emphasized that such conduct is not only harmful to its image but also detrimental to the overall progress of the region.

The NDC’s statement comes in response to a viral video that recently circulated on social media, in which it was alleged that the Suaman District Chief Executive, Obour Vasco, had authorized the use of government-provided DRIP machines for illegal mining activities (galamsey). The NDC considers this claim as part of a wider smear campaign intended to mislead the public and tarnish reputations.

In its address, the party made it clear that the people of the Western North Region are becoming increasingly aware of these deceptive tactics and will no longer tolerate efforts to undermine regional development. The NDC indicated that it is prepared to respond with political, legal, and civic action if the NPP persists in this direction.

The party also called for unity and vigilance among its supporters and the general public, encouraging all to stay focused on the region’s growth and not be swayed by misinformation. The NDC expressed gratitude to the people of the region for their continued support and assured them of the party’s commitment to safeguarding their interests and advancing development.
