No political appointee under my administration is permitted to purchase state assets- Prez Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized that no political appointee under his administration is permitted to pitch state assets, be it land, vehicles, shares, or buildings, directly or indirectly.

He made this declaration during the launch of the code of conduct for appointees held on May 5, 2025, at the Presidency.

According to him, all political appointees must serve the public with integrity and impartiality as the code strictly prohibits appointees from purchasing state assets, including land, vehicles, shares, or buildings, directly or indirectly.

President Mahama also stated that appointees found violating this rule will face termination of their appointment. ‘’We are here to protect the national interest, not to help ourselves to the national purse,’’ he said is to ensure public servants prioritize the nation’s needs over personal gain.

President Mahama also mentioned the sanctions for violation of this conduct to include public apology, reprimand, suspension, resignation, or ultimately termination of appointment.

He assured that these sanctions will be enforced strictly, without exception, also emphasizing his commitment to maintaining the integrity of the government, stating that he will not compromise on protecting the nation’s interests.

‘’I assure you that these sanctions are not cosmetic; they will be enforced, and I will not hesitate to act firmly no matter who is involved. Do not put me in the position where I have to make that drastic choice because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise”, he stated.
