One person has died with 37 others sustaining varying degrees of injuries in a crash involving a bus and a truck at Mankrong, along the Accra – Kumasi Highway on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
The crash involved a 40-seater Zhong Tong bus with registration number, AS 7022-21 and a Man Diesel truck registered as GW 3969-U, both in motion at the time of collision.
Among those injured were 21 males and 17 females, all occupants of the bus, while those on the truck escaped unhurt, according to a statement issued by the Ghana National Fire Service on Sunday, January 11.
The Suhum Municipal Fire Station rescue crew, led by ADO II Bernard Boamah, according to their statement, was dispatched at 6:59 a.m. and arrived at the scene at 7:7 a.m.

The team extricated the deceased from the wreckage, assisted the injured, including some already taken to Suhum Government Hospital, cleared the scene, restored traffic flow, and ensured the safety of road users,” the statement added.
