The Member of Parliament for Suaman Constituency, Mr,Frederick Gilbert Addy, popularly known as Freddys, has begun fulfilling a key campaign promise made during the 2024 General Elections by providing financial support to petty traders, particularly market women, within the constituency. This initiative is aimed at boosting small-scale trading activities and easing the economic burdens of women who play a vital role in the local economy.
In line with this commitment, Mr.Addy has released a total of GH₵300,000 (equivalent to 3 billion old cedis) as the first phase of financial support. The funds are expected to assist small business owners to expand their operations, increase their earnings, and improve their families’ livelihoods.
To ensure effective and transparent distribution, the funds have been handed over to the Suaman Women Organizers’ Committee. This group is made up of trusted individuals who have long-standing relationships with local traders and are well-positioned to oversee the fair and efficient disbursement of the funds to beneficiaries across various communities.
The members of the committee are Madam Idora Abiaw, Nsiah Mama, Madam Patricia Gyeke, Mama Lydia, Mrs. Portia Agyeman, and Mr. Kwasi Boahen. These individuals have been tasked with the responsibility of identifying eligible beneficiaries and ensuring that the support reaches the intended traders without bias or favoritism.
Addy has emphasized that the distribution process must be conducted with fairness, transparency, and absolute neutrality. He has directed the committee to avoid discrimination of any kind—be it political, ethnic, religious, or social—and to treat all qualified traders with equal respect and support.
This intervention is particularly timely, as many market women and petty traders in the constituency continue to face challenges such as limited capital, rising costs, and reduced customer patronage. The release of funds will therefore provide a much-needed boost to their businesses and restore hope to many households.
The Suaman MP believes that empowering women through economic opportunities is a crucial step towards long-term community development. He remains committed to creating more opportunities that uplift vulnerable groups and stimulate economic activity across the constituency.
Addy has assured constituents that this is only the beginning of many more developmental interventions. With God’s guidance and the collective efforts of his team, he pledges to continue working tirelessly for the progress and well-being of the good people of Suaman.
This initiative marks another milestone in Hon. Addy’s leadership, highlighting his unwavering dedication to inclusive growth and support for grassroots development.
