The Western Central Regional Police Command as part of sustained anti-galamsey operations in the region on 19th May 2025 successfully disabled over one-hundred and twenty (120) changfang machines and arrested thirteen (13) suspects for illegal mining activities at Wassa Gyapa in the Western Region.
The suspects include Nana Ampadu, Stephen Tetteh, Yaw Dalame, Samuel Amoah, Kwame Oppong, Francis Oduom, Owusu Asare, Atta Kwame, Apiyanga Emmanuel, Kojo Montanakito, Maxwell Owusu, Obofo Vincent, and Soogal Fataw.
Six (6) motorbikes were retrieved from the site in addition to over one hundred and twenty (120) Chanfang machines that were disabled.
The suspects will be arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court today, Tuesday, 20th May 2025.
