On the 14th of December 2025,Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Aowin, Mr. Stephen Morcher, has donated two 60KVA power plants to Enchi College of Education and Nana Brentu Senior High School to help address the persistent power cuts affecting the municipality.
About four months ago, legendreport, reported that frequent electricity outages were having a severe impact on the Aowin Municipality. Businesses were struggling, and educational institutions, including Enchi College of Education and Nana Brentu Senior High School, were among the most affected.
The donation of the power plants is part of the MCE’s efforts to provide a stable and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and administration within the municipality. The power plants will ensure that both institutions have a reliable source of electricity even during power cuts.

According to the MCE, the power crisis in the area had disrupted the academic and operational activities of both institutions, prompting their management to seek assistance from the Municipal Assembly. The MCE responded by providing the power plants and assured that the Assembly will continue to work toward finding a lasting solution to the electricity challenges facing Aowin.

The management of Enchi College of Education lead by the registrar Bright korankye Appau, expressed appreciation for the support, describing it as timely and impactful. The college, one of the oldest in Ghana, has been battling with power instability, which has affected students’ studies and campus security. During power outages, interruptions in academic work were common, making it difficult for both students and staff to operate effectively.

With the provision of the 60KVA power plant, the college expects an improvement in lighting, security, and academic performance. The management extended its gratitude to the MCE and the Aowin Municipal Assembly for their continued support toward educational development in the municipality.
