The Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) has warned the public against fraudsters posing as its agents to extort money from unsuspecting miners.
According to the Secretariat, certain individuals and groups are falsely using the name of rCOMSDEP to deceive miners with promises of facilitating access to mineralized areas for responsible cooperative mining.
The Programme has clarified that it has not appointed or authorized any person or group to register miners or act on its behalf in any region. It further cautioned that anyone caught engaging in such fraudulent acts will face arrest and prosecution under Ghanaian law.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report such individuals to the police.
National Coordinator Ing. Frank Asare, Esq. assured that rCOMSDEP remains committed to promoting responsible and sustainable mining through transparent and lawful procedures.
