Renowned Max FM Journalist Bona Ray Laid to Rest at Enchi

The final funeral rites for Bonah Isaac, popularly known as Bona Ray, a respected journalist and morning show host at Max FM in Enchi, are being held this weekend. The ceremonies span from Friday, 1st August to Sunday, 3rd August 2025, at the Enchi Funeral Grounds in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

Bona Ray tragically lost his life on Thursday, 6th June 2025, in a fatal road accident at Kojokrom, a suburb of Takoradi in the Western Region. His sudden passing sent shockwaves throughout the media fraternity and among residents across the Western North.

According to eyewitness reports, the accident occurred when a trailer loaded with timber, traveling from Tano-Krom towards Fijai, lost control and veered off its lane. It collided head-on with a passenger-filled minibus (trotro) en route from Takoradi to Kojokrom. Bona Ray, who was among the passengers, died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.

Following the tragic incident, his body was conveyed to the Enchi Agyapaye Funeral Home Mortuary for preservation while the family prepared for the final rites. His death is widely regarded as a significant loss to the media landscape of the Western North Region.

In collaboration with Bona Ray’s family, the management of Max FM and the Western North Journalists Association have jointly organized the funeral arrangements. The three-day event is expected to attract dignitaries, media colleagues, sympathizers, and well-wishers from across the country.

Bona Ray was widely admired for his professionalism, commitment to journalism, and deep passion for community development. His morning show on Max FM was especially popular for spotlighting social issues and advocating for the needs of everyday people in the region.

As the final rites are observed, friends, family, colleagues, and the general public gather to bid farewell to a voice that inspired many and a life that exemplified dedication, activism, and service.
