In a passionate statement, Martha Kwayie Manu, former Deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission and a prominent member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has thrown her full support behind the Vice President, urging delegates to choose him as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
Speaking candidly about the current race for the NPP’s presidential race, Kwayie Manu took aim at some of the other aspirants, accusing them of lacking the necessary respect for the people they seek to lead. She emphasized that leadership requires mutual respect and understanding between the leader and the people.
“How can you lead the people if you don’t respect them?” she asked, expressing concern over the attitudes of certain aspirants. Kwayie Manu argued that such individuals might struggle to effectively lead and relate to the people they aspire to govern. “How can you understand someone you don’t have respect for?” she stressed, adding that this lack of respect undermines their ability to connect with voters and address their needs.
In contrast, she praised Bawumia for his humility, respect, and strong interpersonal skills. “Bawumia is a humble, God-fearing man who knows how to work with others,” she said. According to Kwayie Manu, these qualities make him the ideal candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.
She further highlighted Bawumia’s extensive knowledge and vision for the country, underscoring his suitability to navigate Ghana’s complex political and economic landscape. “Bawumia is not only a man of integrity, but also someone with the knowledge and vision to take this country forward,” Kwayie Manu said.
Kwayie Manu called on delegates to place their trust in Bawumia, urging them to support a candidate who embodies both humility and a deep understanding of the needs of the people. “We need a God-fearing leader to take us forward, and Bawumia is that person,” she concluded.
With the race for the NPP flagbearership heating up, Bawumia continues to enjoy significant backing within the party, and Kwayie Manu’s comments reflect the growing momentum behind his candidacy as the NPP prepares for the crucial 2028 elections.
