The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency has temporarily closed down the Sefwi Juaboso District government hospital mortuary for several violations.
The agency cited several non-compliances including an unsanitary and unconducive environment, dumping of refuse around the mortuary, poor lighting system, lack of personal protective equipment for attendants, and non-registration of the morgue and attendants.

The Registrar of Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency, Francis Ennin, speaking to the media said the facility would remain temporarily closed until they comply with the right directives.
Interestingly, the closed-down mortuary is in the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh’s constituency.
However, the registrar says the Minister would be a happy person to hear that a mortuary in his constituency has been temporarily shut down. He further called for the right to be done to avoid severe sanctions.
