Six suspects, including two women, have been arrested in connection with the alleged ritual murder of a 28-year-old mason, Nelson Anyana, from Mafi Adidome in the Central Tongu District.
According to the Mafi Adidome District Police Command, the incident came to light following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, Comfort Hates, a trader residing at Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region. She reported that her son had left home on December 4, 2024, to visit a friend, Augustina Fiawiyife, but never returned.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Augustina Fiawiyife, who admitted during interrogation that her boyfriend, identified as Wisdom Hedidor, had previously warned the victim, Nelson Anyana, to stop contacting her via phone. The victim’s frequent communication with Augustina had reportedly sparked jealousy.
Investigations revealed that a fetish priest, Gblor Noah, had requested a human body for ritual purposes. In response, Wisdom Hedidor and his accomplices allegedly conspired to murder Nelson Anyana to fulfill this request. On the night of the incident, the priest, together with a man identified as John Gblor, a lotto writer, reportedly took possession of the body. Parts of the victim’s body were allegedly used for rituals, and the remaining body was buried in a nearby bush.

All suspects have reportedly confessed to the crime in their caution statements. On Tuesday, the police, accompanied by the suspects, exhumed the remains of the victim from the burial site.
In a shocking development, police say four additional bodies were discovered at the shrine of the fetish priest. During interrogation, the priest claimed he had purchased the bodies for ritual purposes at GHS 7,000 each.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of a thorough investigation and has vowed to bring all culprits to justice.
