Suaman Communities Demand Urgent Action Over Deteriorating Roads

by Martin Cobbinah

About ten communities in the Suaman District of the Western North Region have expressed deep concerns over the poor condition of roads in their area, calling on the District Assembly for immediate intervention.

Communities such as Donkorkrom, Ameyawkrom, Asantekrom, Agyeikrom, and Aeroplane Park are among those hardest hit by the deteriorating roads. Residents say the bad road network is disrupting farming activities, increasing transportation costs, and worsening poverty levels.

During a familiarisation visit by the Suaman District Chief Executive, Obour Vasco, residents voiced their frustration, explaining that transporting their farm produce to market centers has become nearly impossible. This has led to substantial post-harvest losses and financial hardship for many households.

In addition to economic difficulties, the residents lamented that access to healthcare has become a significant challenge, especially for pregnant women and people in emergency situations.

Responding to the concerns, the DCE assured the affected communities that the Assembly remains committed to ensuring equitable development across the district. He pledged that reshaping works on the roads would begin once the rainy season ends.

Residents are hopeful that the DCE’s promise will be fulfilled to improve their living conditions and restore access to vital services.
