Tensions Mount at Sefwi Over Missing Woman

Tensions are rising in the community of Sefwi Boako in the Western North Region following the mysterious disappearance of a woman, Akua Ago, who has been missing for over four months.

According to residents, Akua Ago was last seen on her way to the farm at Sefwi Asafo, a nearby town. Eyewitness accounts allege that a man known as Kwame Kyematen, popularly referred to as “Easy”, offered her a lift that day. Unfortunately, she never returned home, prompting a search by residents and a subsequent report to the police.

A youth leader in the area, Nana Boakye, described the situation as alarming and raised concerns about increasing unresolved crimes in the community. He said the case of Akua Ago reflects a broader problem that has persisted for some time.

He noted that the last person seen with the missing woman was Kwame Kyematen, who allegedly dropped her off in Asafo but has since not followed up or shown interest in locating her.

The woman’s father, Nana Kwame Nimo, also voiced dissatisfaction with how the case has been handled. He said the family received information from an informant that Kwame Kyematen picked up his daughter. Upon confrontation, Kyematen admitted to giving her a lift to Asafo.

According to Nana Kwame Nimo, Kyematen initially agreed to help in the search efforts but later stopped communicating with the family. He also stated that the police have not made any arrests, and the courts have not heard from the family’s side.

He further accused the Sefwi Wiawso Police of doing little to support their efforts, suggesting that there may be negligence or a deliberate attempt to downplay the matter. He added that the suspected individual is still moving freely in the community.

Both Nana Boakye and Nana Kwame Nimo are appealing to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the President of Ghana, and other national authorities to intervene and take over the investigation. They believe the lack of action could lead to unrest and diminish public confidence in the police service.

As days turn into months, the residents of Sefwi Boako continue to demand justice and answers regarding the whereabouts of Akua Ago. The unresolved case has left a cloud of fear and growing frustration over perceived police inaction and weak investigative response.
