The District Chief Executive for Bia West, Mathew Annor, has joined the hardworking Member of Parliament for Bia West, Mustapha Tanko Amadu, to inspect the Yawmatwa Polished Rice Factory. The visit formed part of ongoing efforts to ensure the facility is fully prepared to commence operations under the government’s industrialization drive.

The factory, developed under the Enable Youth Programme, is expected to be handed over to Barhams Consult Limited. The company has been granted a lease by the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry to operate and manage the facility, with the goal of boosting local production and agro-processing in the district.
During the inspection, the Member of Parliament reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the successful rollout of the factory, stressing the enormous potential it holds for economic growth and job creation. He assured the people of Bia West that every effort will be made to ensure the project delivers lasting benefits.

District Chief Executive Mathew Annor also pledged his full support, indicating that his office is equally dedicated to seeing the vision materialize. According to him, plans are already underway to put the factory in the best condition possible so that operations can begin without delay.
The Yawmatwa Polished Rice Factory is expected to create employment opportunities for the youth while providing an additional source of income for farmers and households in the district. By processing rice locally, the factory will also contribute to reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing food security in the area.
Local farmers and agribusinesses have been encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity by supplying raw materials to feed the factory. Authorities believe that such collaboration will create a vibrant value chain that benefits all stakeholders, from production to processing and marketing.

The initiative is seen as a major step toward transforming the economic landscape of Bia West. Leaders of the district expressed optimism that the factory will not only boost livelihoods but also position the constituency as a key player in Ghana’s rice production and agro-processing sector.
