Kete-Krachi, Oti Region – June 16, 2025
The Kete-Krachi Divisional Police Command’s Anti-Robbery Unit has arrested two individuals for possession of a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, following an intelligence-led operation.
The suspects, identified as John Dzeble, 34, and Adzobi Mesiwotso, 24, were apprehended on Sunday, June 15, 2025, after police intercepted an Opel Astra vehicle with registration number GT 6430-13, which was being driven by Dzeble, with Mesiwotso onboard.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, police officers discovered 86 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp carefully hidden in various compartments of the car. The drugs were reportedly concealed in the engine bay, door panels, and boot, indicating a calculated attempt to avoid detection.
In addition to the parcels, the police also retrieved a portable measuring scale machine and a roll of masking tape, believed to have been used in the packaging and preparation of the suspected narcotic substances. These items were also cleverly concealed within the vehicle.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with further inquiries into the source and intended destination of the seized drugs.
The Oti Regional Police Command has praised the prompt and professional response of the officers involved in the operation. In a statement, the command reaffirmed its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related criminal activities in the region, warning that law enforcement will continue to pursue such cases with urgency and resolve.
“This arrest underscores the importance of intelligence gathering and collaborative policing efforts in dealing with organized crime,” the statement read.
The suspects are expected to be processed for court in the coming days as investigations continue.
