We Need to Thank You, Not You to Thank Us – Big Aidoo Tells Asiedu Nketiah

The Western North Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Council of State member, H. E. Michael Aidoo, popularly known as Big Aidoo, has said that it is rather the people of the Western North Region who should be grateful to the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, and not the other way around.

According to Big Aidoo, there was no need for Mr. Asiedu Nketiah to embark on a thanksgiving tour of the region, as he was the one who played a major role in ensuring the party’s success there.

He recalled that during the 2024 general elections, when the party faced challenges in the region, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah personally visited all nine constituencies to campaign for NDC parliamentary candidates. He even went to remote villages, conducting door-to-door campaigns that contributed to the party’s impressive victory—winning eight out of the nine parliamentary seats in the region.

Big Aidoo also revealed that after the NDC’s electoral victory, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah was instrumental in lobbying for appointments for people from the Western North Region in the Mahama-led government.

“With the help of Asiedu Nketiah, the Western North Region today has one of the biggest ministers in Ghana—the Minister of Health—along with a Deputy Minister, CEOs, Board Chairmen, and Board Members,” he stated.
He emphasized that this was the first time the region had ever had such significant representation in a national government, including a Cabinet Minister.

Big Aidoo noted that despite all these contributions, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah had chosen to visit the region to express his appreciation to the chiefs (Nananom) and the people.

In fact, it should have been us organizing to go to Accra to thank him for what he has done for our region,” Big Aidoo remarked, adding that Asiedu Nketiah’s actions demonstrated his deep love and commitment to the people of Western North.

He therefore stood on behalf of the entire region to thank Mr. Asiedu Nketiah for his continued support and dedication to the development of Western North.
