The Western North Regional Police Command, led by DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi, has launched a special operation targeting unlicensed Motorcycle and tricycle operators in the region.
According to a press statement released by the Public Affairs Unit of the Western North Regional Police and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Michael Nkekesi, the operation began on May 28, 2025.


It was initiated in response to the increasing rate of road crashes caused by the irresponsible use of motorcycles and tricycles.As part of the enforcement exercise, several individuals were arrested for operating unregistered tricycles, riding without valid licenses, and engaging in reckless behavior on the roads.
Following the arrests, a significant number of offenders were arraigned before the District Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng. The individuals admitted to the charges brought against them.


Consequently, the court sentenced the offenders to various terms of imprisonment with hard labor and imposed monetary fines.
Those unable to pay the fines will serve an alternative sentence of 90 days of imprisonment with hard labor.The operation was conducted within the Sefwi Wiawso Municipality and is expected to deter recalcitrant riders and contribute significantly to the reduction of road accidents in the region.

The Western North Regional Police Command has assured the general public that this enforcement exercise will be sustained in order to maintain and improve road safety across the region.
