The Western North Conference of the Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Ghana is set to establish its first nursing training college in the Juaboso District. The move is aimed at expanding educational opportunities and addressing the growing need for skilled health professionals in the region.

The proposed institution will be located at Kofi Krom in the Juaboso District. It is expected to provide training for nurses and other healthcare workers, thereby strengthening the delivery of health services in Western North and across the country.

Pastor Elijah Kofi Asante, Head of Finance and Administration of the Western North Conference, explained that the conference remains the only branch of the SDA Church in Ghana without a tertiary-level institution. He noted that the establishment of a nursing training college will help bridge this gap while also contributing to national development.

According to Pastor Asante, the process of obtaining accreditation for the college commenced under the previous government. However, the transition in political administration led to delays, as the church had to wait for the appointment of new government ministers to continue with the approval process.
He further stated that with the current government having completed its ministerial appointments, the conference is prepared to engage with the relevant regulatory authorities to finalize accreditation. All necessary academic and infrastructural arrangements are being pursued to ensure compliance with national standards.

The nursing training college is expected to begin admitting students in the 2026 academic year if the accreditation process is completed on schedule. Preparations are underway to position the institution as a center of excellence in health education within the Western North Region.

The announcement was made during the annual camp meeting of the Western North Conference at Sefwi Juaboso Datano, where church members and community stakeholders expressed their support for the initiative.
