The Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has revealed that the Western North Region will soon have a regional hospital.

He stated that f President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Health to construct three new regional health facilities in the newly created regions, of which the Western North Region is one.

According to the Minister, the project has been captured in this year’s national budget and construction is expected to begin soon. He added that the establishment of a regional hospital will greatly strengthen healthcare delivery in the region.
Mr. Akandoh also disclosed that the Ministry of Health will soon begin auditing all health facilities in the Western North Region to assess their capacities and identify those that need expansion.

Currently, the Western North Region is one of the newly created regions without a regional hospital. As a result, most serious medical cases are referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi a journey of about three hours which affects the timely delivery of quality healthcare.
Residents expressed joy over the Minister’s announcement and appealed to the Ministry to expedite the process, as they are eager to see the project commence soon.
