The three children of the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, have paid tribute to his memory.
They were part of a large congregation that participated in a mass service held at the Christ the King Parish in Accra on August 14.
In a grief-stricken tone, the youngest of the three children (two girls and a boy) directed her concerns directly to her late dad.
Your love was steady, your love was gentle, and it was the warmth that filled our home,” she recounted.
“You called us every day when you travelled. You never missed our special moments. You taught us to dream big but stay grounded. You showed us that compassion is strength, but speaking the truth is an obligation, and that service to others is the greatest legacy one can leave,” she recalled.
Even as she was getting choked by emotion that welled up in her throat, she continued, “Daddy, why did you leave us so soon? Never in a million years would we have imagined this.
“Who will we call in the middle of the night when we have questions? Who will have the answers? You are irreplaceable, Edwardo.”
Dr. Omane Boamah was one of the eight persons on the Ghana Airforce Z-9 helicopter that crashed on August 6, 2025 at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.
They were enroute to Obuasi to attend the launch of the Responsible Community and Cooperative Mining Programme.
The rest who died in the accident are Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong; and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
The crew members who died in the accident were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Meanwhile, a state funeral will be held on Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square in Accra.
